In this course, we will focus on the spread of English by examining the socio-economic processes that have contributed to its evolution into a global language, especially by considering the key debates linked to its post-colonial development.
Through a critical assessment of recent academic writings, students are expected to explore decisive factors - such as language policy and planning initiatives - related to the expansion of English.
