Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) has become a very interesting field of research and a very promising approach that is used more and more in schools on different levels (primary, secondary as well as vocational) in Germany, Europe and beyond. Recent studies seem to confirm it as a valuable addition to more traditional programmes of language teaching. The aim of this course is to explore important principles of CLIL. In addition to theoretical backgrounds, the course focuses on implications for teaching and actual teaching practice. We will discuss different models of CLIL, potential benefits, advantages and challenges. Aspects of curricula and various materials for primary and secondary schools will also be explored. Every participant is expected to investigate a particular topic in greater detail and to actively engage in the discussions, explorations and experiments. |
