One of the most important requirements for effective teaching is the ability to understand the potential of the age group you are teaching. This course will focus on some of the most useful types of language teaching approaches which provide young students with opportunities to be exposed to meaningful language, such as ‘Task-Based Learning' and ‘TPR'. We will deal with the use of authentic themes and situations, for example: English fairy tales, songs, picture books, traditional rhymes and games in order to provide children with a sense of cultural diversity. Dealing with a variety of literary texts, as well as using holistic and creative teaching approaches, is a way of catering to different learners and provides opportunities for further differentiation in the rather heterogeneous primary classroom. Furthermore, ways of documenting and evaluating pupils achievments in class will be discussed. |
