In this seminar we will have a look at a branch of linguistics that considers language structure not as autonomous but with regard to general cognitive principles and mechanism not specific to language, such as categorisation. We will also have a look at specific developments in Cognitive Linguistics, such as Cognitive Semantics or Cognitive Grammar. The purpose of this course is to provide a general orientation in Cognitive Linguistics and an understanding of its central themes and assumptions.
Information about a reader/course book will be sent to you after registration. |
