Is there only Brave New World? Do we have to tell the Handmaid’s Tale all over again?
This course will not only focus on the curricular topic of science and ethics, but will also explore the didactics of dystopian literature in general as well as different analytical and creative approaches to the teaching of these texts in the EFL classroom. It will also offer a different selection of texts and films that might prove to be more motivating for both students and teachers.
Students who would like to participate in this class should be willing to read the following novels prior to the course:
- Suzanne Collins (2008): The Hunger Games (1st part of the trilogy)
- Kazuo Ishiguru (2005): Never let me go.
