Is it possible to younger pupils to read literature in the foreign language? How can this develop their reading and literacy skills? And what is the value of children’s fiction in the foreign language class? This course will explore the didactics of children’s fiction in the Sek. I EFL classroom and will hopefully provide you with many creative ideas as well as the enthusiasm needed in order to teach these texts to your future students.
Students who would like to participate in this class should be willing to read the following novels prior to the course:
- David Almond (1998): Skellig.
- Sherman Alexie (2007): The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.
- Tony DiTerlizzi & Holly Black (2003): The Spiderwick Chronicles – The Field Guide, Book One.
- Jeremy Strong (2000): I’m telling you, they’re aliens!
