Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison is a major work of African-American literature considering its influence and its bold way to present racism and injustice. Published in 1952, it reflects American history and anticipates the social unrest of the following decades while rooted in a deep literary and philosophical tradition. This seminar will provide a close reading of Invisible Man as well as presenting some of the literary and historical context of the novel.

Requirements:
- Reading the assignments.
- Presenting one chapter of the novel and guiding the following discussion.
- Writing a short essay.

Course Readings:
Ralph Ellison. Invisible Man. 1952.
