Involving Early Language Learners - Einzelansicht

This course, which is specifically designed for future primary English teachers, focuses on how to make best use of learners’ potential at this stage. While it does generally focus on appropriate methods and contents for the use in primary English teaching, i.e. the importance of the different language skills, the use of different typed of media and materials, effective ways of starting out and possible constraints for the primary school, the question will be raised of how to get beyond this initial state as learners do develop cognitively throughout their time at primary school and would like to be involved and challenged. The course will be a mix of theory and practice, i.e. will include reflections on current literature in the field but will also be very “hands on” in phases. An online reader will be provided.

Note: This course will also be open to HRG and Gym/Ge students who wish to get a glimpse into what teaching at primary level is like and at how to deal with the transition from primary to secondary school.
