Future urban energy systems require fundamentally new conceptions. The upcoming energy revolution may only be achieved if real life conditions in cities are matched with technological possibilities and ecological requirements. No future adaptation of energy infrastructure can be successfully implemented if it won't integrate into the existing and upcoming urban built environment.
This seminar aims to lay out the most relevant requirements, possibilities, impediments, and concerns of future urban energy systems.
Different lecturers from academia and practice and from various disciplines, including energy economics, urban research, research in urban energy systems, urban energy consulting etc. provide a broad overview as well as in-depth insights.
The seminar will be held on four days (10 am - 5 pm) and two afternoon/evening sessions which are held in combination with the summer term's “Ringvorlesung”. Besides attending and discussing the presentations, the students are required to work during the seminar days, and to give a longer presentation on the last day. The final presentation will be accompanied by a seminar report for which the students are encouraged to further the thoughts provided in the seminar lectures. |
