Course Objectives:

The course aims at equipping non-native speakers of English with the strategies to improve their listening, writing, reading and speaking skills, using materials for the C1 level. Students will develop the capacity to deal with unfamiliar topics, express themselves fluently and spontaneously, use language flexibly in  social, academic and professional contexts, produce clear, well-structured text on complex subjects including showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices along with drawing meaning from a wide range of demanding, longer texts. 

Course Materials:

Please pick up the relevant materials (C1 reader) from the copy shop (Schug & Real GbR, Reckhammerweg 4, 45141 Essen) shortly before the first session.

Also open to students of Anglophone studies.

Requirements:

English language skills at the B2 level (approx. 240 class hours).

Obligation to attend all sessions including mandatory attendance for the first session. If students fail to attend the first session and do not have an excused absence, they will automatically lose their place in the language course.

Additionally, students are only allowed to miss 2 complete sessions for the entire semester. If you are visiting an intensive course, you are not allowed to miss more than 4 x 90 minutes.

Active participation is required for successful completion of the class.

Taking the final exam is mandatory.

Meeting the requirements mentioned above.

Active participation.

Preparation and reworking of each session.

Passing the final exam.

This also applies to the acquisition of the certificate for the course. There are no certificates of attendance.
