The aim of this language practice course is to help students improve their German proficiency as well as their intercultural knowledge and skills. We will focus on a broad variety of topics such as literature, linguistics, economy, sports, everyday life, etc and work on both cultural and linguistic aspects. We will also take advantage of the cultural diversity of the group to render our activities truly intercultural. The level of linguistic difficulty will be determined on the basis of the make-up of the respective group. Teaching will be very student-centered, which also entails that our translations will always be accompanied by a whole range of other activities as we’ll follow a real learning-by-doing approach.
For incoming exchange students (Sokrates, DAAD, etc.). No electronic registration - just come to the first class session. |
Bemerkung |
Please note: If you practically don't know any German, this might not be the right course for you as a certain command of German is necessary to be able to translate texts. Also, this course will not provide an in-depth study of German grammar and vocabulary; if you'd like to concentrate on these areas, you might want to look at the language courses offered by the IOS [Main page of the LSF > Sprachkurse (pretty far down in the list) > Deutsch als Fremdsprache (German as a foreign language); at A1/2 level, the course descriptions should be in English]. Website of the IOS with further information on courses: http://www.uni-due.de/ios/sprachkurse_e1_ise_kurse.php#english
If you're not sure, please do come to the first session of this course and we'll sort things out together!
