Inhalt
Kommentar

Course Objectives:

This course aims at equipping non-native speakers of English with the strategies to improve their listening, writing, reading and speaking skills, using materials for the A2 level. Additionally, students will learn how to deal with simple, straightforward information and begin to express themselves in familiar contexts. Students will be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions from their immediate surroundings and will be able to perform routine tasks in the target language if simply and directly stated. By the end of the course, student should be able to use simple language structures to describe their immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Students are required to bring the materials with them to the first session.

Bemerkung

Not suitable for students of Anglophone studies.

This course doesn’t count as a non-technical subject for ISE students.

Voraussetzungen

Requirements:

English language skills at the A1 level (approx. 60 class hours).

Obligation to attend all sessions including mandatory attendance for the first session. If students fail to attend the first session and do not have an excused absence, they will automatically lose their place in the language course.

Additionally, students are only allowed to miss 2 complete sessions for the entire semester. If you are visiting an intensive course, you are not allowed to miss more than 4 x 90 minutes.

Active participation is required for successful completion of the class.

Taking the final exam is mandatory.

Acquisition of  4 ECTS credits:

Meeting the requirements mentioned above.

Active participation.

Preparation and reworking of each session.

Passing the final exam.

Final Grading Scheme:

60% exam (includes 15% oral exam)

10% Written Assignment #1

10% Written Assignment #3

10% Moodle, Homework and Participation

This also applies to the acquisition of the certificate for the course. There are no certificates of attendance.
