Digital technologies are now regarded as useful tools for language learning. The question is, however, in what way these tools can be used to provide a basis for new and flexible (innovative) learning scenarios in the language classroom. In a first overview, digital tools and various online and offline materials will be reflected. This will include “traditional” software as well as mobile devices and apps.
The seminar will then investigate samples of task-based lessons making use of digital materials and tools and establish criteria for innovative and motivating classroom practice in this area. The theoretical principles of second language acquisition with a focus on Task-Based Learning, authenticity and output-orientation as well as learner autonomy will be discussed and samples of good practice identified. |
