This course addresses the question of how to foster engaged reading in heterogeneous classrooms. Starting with the foundations of literacy development in the EFL classroom we will move on to a practical approach of integrating literature in mixed-ability classes. In so doing, we will combine elements of reflective practice and action research. That is, you will reflect upon samples of teaching practice and take a hands-on approach to designing various open forms of teaching literature. We will include “Handlungsorientierung”, “Produktionsorientierung”, task based and project based learning as well as cooperative learning approaches and reflect upon our experiences in terms of literature and language learning. |
