Larsen-Freeman and Long state that “at least forty ‘theories’ of SLA have been proposed”... Most of you know about three of them (e.g. Introdutory Course to EFL-Methodology). Let us, therefore, revisit and expand on this foundation and consider some of the other theories (but by no means all of them!). On this - more sophisticated - theoretical basis, we approach the phenomenon of the interlanguage, i.e. the ever-changing and developing learner version of the L2. We have a closer look at how age and motivation influence the interlanguage, we consider (socio)linguistic aspects of it and branch out to also cover pragmatic ones. |
