The lecture provides an overview of selected recent issues in literary urban studies and will engage with questions of modelling theory, texts as models, representations of urban complexity in literature and other media, the notion of "scripts" in urban development, scenario building, methodological questions in literary urban studies as well as the (potential) contributions of literary studies to inter- and transdisciplinary urban research. A reader containing an initial selection of material will be available in the copyshop in Reckhammerweg from early October onwards. Further material will be supplied electronically in the course of the semester. |
