Nadine Gordimer (1923-2014) is one of the best-known and most prolific writers from South Africa. Her career started early when she published her first short story in 1937 and ended with her last publication of essays in 2012. She has written numerous short stories, novels and essays and received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1991. We will discuss various texts in the course. A reader with short stories and essays will be available at the copy shop in Reckhammerweg. Students are also required to read two novels, Burger’s Daughter (1979) and No Time like the Present (2012). |
