The focus of the course is to understand East Asia as a whole, characterized by transnational relations between the key countries (and other countries or actors, where appropriate). Social science, economic, and business studies approaches incl. the corresponding research methods will be utilized when discussing the different aspects of the social and economic development of East Asia and the transnational and regional integration interaction. The course builds on an interactive setting building on a series of short presentations and group discussion in the first part. Individual research projects will be derived from this and are to be presented in class. This full presentation aims at enabling group discussions, which – in turn – are meant to provide feedback to participants regarding the composition of their term paper.
