Course Description:
This course introduces students to the basics of philanthropy in a global setting by exploring the functional, decision-oriented areas of management and marketing as they relate to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), nonprofit organizations (NPOs), governmental entities, and for-profit firms that engage in the not-for-profit sector. Students will gain an idea of how strategic planning works in this sector, how NGOs and NPOs support their mission through strategic philanthropy initiatives, how businesses leverage marketing principles such as brand management to make strategic decisions regarding nonprofit sector engagement, and the role governments play. |
