This course reviews economic growth and development in East Asia focused on Korea under economic growth theory as well as international statistics databases, also explores the source of economic growth based on productivity. Furthermore it applies growth accounting method to national economy including Korea and Germany. Students will be assigned statistical challenges weekly as well as reading materials and have to prepare for class discussion. Active participation is required. At the end of the semester a term paper is expected.
Proof of performance Activities in the seminar are structured as follows: Participants are expected to be actively engaged in discussion on statistical challenges as well as an academic reading material assigned by small group of class weekly. For this purpose each group prepares the statistical results based on international statistics databases or the implication of reading paper. Finally, a term paper on a specific topic is to be submitted at the end of the semester. |
