SE Praktische Philosophie: Emotions and the Body - Einzelansicht

A common thought is that emotions are primarily bodily entities, located in the body, and sometimes even ‘stuck’ in the body. Is this thought more than a metaphor? This course will center around a challenge. How should we conceptualize the precise relationship between emotions (such as fear, sadness and anger) and various bodily symptoms such as muscle tension, facial expression, posture, and heartrate?

This course will be a seminar taught in English, and will consist mainly in discussion on assigned readings. Active engagement with the texts and participation in class are essential. Texts will be circulated electronically.
