Objective of the Seminar: This seminar aims to introduce students to the often-overlooked but essential skills and experiences of pursuing a PhD/scientific career in (computer) science. Students will gain insights into the academic workflow, scientific communication, and peer review culture, while actively engaging in writing, reviewing, and presenting research content.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the seminar, students will be able to: · Understand the structure and expectations of a PhD program. · Apply scientific thinking and writing skills. · Write short academic paper using LaTeX. · Provide and receive peer reviews following academic standards. · Design and present scientific posters in a conference-like setting. · Communicate their research clearly through elevator pitches and oral presentations. Additionally, the results of the seminar might be a good starting point for future bachelor's/master's theses. |
