Research methods is basically the difference between "I have an opinion" and "I can defend a claim." This course introduces students to turning ideas into researchable questions, building literature reviews that do more than summarise, and designing studies that can actually answer what they're asking. We cover theory and concepts, qualitative and quantitative approaches (including case studies and surveys), and the logic of correlation and causation. The course also includes a practical introduction to working with data and communicating results clearly and responsibly, with introductory hands-on exposure to common tools such as SPSS and R. |
