The aim of this excursion is to collect data during a sociolinguistic fieldtrip to Norwich, the urban centre of the traditional East Anglian dialect area. Before embarking on their fieldwork, students will be acquainted with a variety of sociolinguistic methods, e.g. the sociolinguistic interview. The data collected during the fieldtrip can be used by students for the empirical parts of their linguistic term papers. In addition to the data collection, participants will have the opportunity to attend two seminars and meet students and staff at the University of East Anglia. |
