Nearly 20 years after its original publication, the descriptive scheme of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the backbone of competence-oriented curricula throughout Europe, has been revised and expanded in the recently published Companion Volume (Council of Europe: 2020). This seminar will reflect the impact of decriptors covering aspects such as mediation, online interaction & transaction, pluricultural/plurilingual repertoires, and enlightened perceptions of „native speakerism“ on language learning. On a practical level, we will explore how action-oriented approaches, which see learners as social agents and focus on fostering learner agency, can be implemented in classroom practice. |
