Course Description
This course is a comprehensive introduction to the study of politics in North Korea. It is designed to familiarize students of all social sciences with the historical background of North Korea, characteristics of North Korean political system and current issues with nuclear programs and economic development strategy. The main questions through the course are: 1) How can be the North Korean system sustainable, even after the collapse of socialist system in the world? 2) Why North Korea developed the nuclear program and could not give up them? 3) What is the characteristics of North Korean development strategy? To search out the answers, the course explores the historical process of North Korean state building and succession of power, political system in the context of comparative socialism, nuclear program in the context of asymmetric strategy.
