Kommentar: |
The seminar assesses developmental challenges and policy solutions in (East) Asia from a comparative perspective. Topics include green growth/sustainable development, urbanization, demographic change, labor migration, tradition/(multiple) modernities, regionalization/globalization, as well as contestation movements. The seminar will provide an introduction to general theories and research methods before turning to select country-related case studies. The seminar follows a blended learning approach and will be complemented by (virtual) guest lectures.
MA IBEP students write a seminar paper that counts as module exam for both this seminar and the lecture on Chinese politics. The topic and RQ of the seminar paper must refer to the themes discussed in class (seminar or lecture). MA DevGov students write either an essay or a policy brief. Details will be communicated in class.
