The seminar presents various explanatory approaches (socio-economic, political, institutional, historical) for development and obstacles to development. A special focus is placed on gender-specific and critical perspectives. The focus is on the implementation of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in post-conflict societies: 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). It is also about the synergies between these specific goals. We will discuss the debates and narratives around development policies and issues, for example the rise of the "local turn" and the narrative of "women's empowerment". The seminar will deal with selected case studies (presumably: Afghanistan, Libya, Mali, Nigeria, Colombia, Haiti), applying insights from feminist and postcolonial theories. In addition, solutions and alternatives based on these critical theories and new approaches to international relations will be analysed. The examination requirements are based on the module handbook and will be elaborated upon in the first session. These sessions will take place every 14 days. The first session is on 11.04.2023. Further information will be forwarded by e-mail. |
