From Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King to George Romero and Jordan Peele, the USA has brought forth many influential authors and directors concerned with everything that is frightening and eerie. Yet horror is not only about the thrill and the enjoyment of the audience, often the genre metaphorically picks up on the fears and issues that are present in society. With examples from literature, film, and television this seminar follows the trial left through US-American popular culture by all creatures supernatural from the antichrist to zombies. |
