Description: The seminar titled “Empirical Aspects of Responsible and Accountable AI: Human-Computer Interaction Perspectives,” will require students to engage in research and present findings on the psychological and social dimensions of human interaction with artificial intelligence (AI) systems. The focus will be on gaining insights into how issues of responsibility and accountability are investigated through empirical methods and approaches. The seminar will examine a number of key topics, such as explainability, fairness and bias, trust, perceptions of algorithmic harm, human-AI collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
In order to successfully participate in this seminar, students are required to:
- Deliver a presentation on a chosen topic, providing an in-depth analysis
- Actively participate in discussion sessions and contribute to an active and collaborative environment
- Submit a final graded assignment (i.e. study outline or essay) at the end of the seminar, derived from their research findings and gained insights
This seminar is taught in English and open to both psychologists and computer scientists, offering an interdisciplinary forum for the acquisition and discussion of sociotechnical perspectives, methods and approaches.
