MA-Seminar "East Asian innovation and visions of the future in the 20th and 21st centuries" (für die Qualifizierungsstipendiaten des GRK und weitere interessierte MA-Studierende von UDE und RUB)

In this interdisciplinary seminar, we will first discuss East Asian contemporary patterns of innovation from the perspective of political economy and business economics. Thereafter, the seminar will turn to visions of the future in 20th and 21st century China, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea as perceived in political science and political history, from the periods of the late monarchies up to the post-WWII states. Moreover, the seminar will give an overview of different disciplinary approaches and methods for the analysis of innovation and visions of the future in economics, political science and history.
The seminar will be held
in Duisburg (block sessions with Prof. Markus Taube in October and November)
and Bochum in December and January, on Mondays 14-16 (at RUB campus).
Participants are expected to attend the sessions at both locations.
In order to obtain credit points (4 CP), the participants will give a presentation in class and submit a term paper.
