The seminar deals with critical perspectives on conflict, human security and peace. We will first look at the theoretical, conceptual and methodological foundations of peace and conflict studies, with a particular focus on the importance of gender relations for understanding conflict and security. In the second part of the seminar we will examine strategies for conflict prevention, resolution and transformation, using different case studies of peace negotiations and mediation, power-sharing in peace agreements, and transitional justice mechanisms such as truth and reconciliation commissions and tribunals. |
