Course Objectives:

The Technical English Upper Intermediate Course focuses on building on students’ vocabulary, theory and language practice required to work and study in a technical environment. Authentic texts and practical exercises will be used to discuss and utilize the terminology in the field.   Various aspects of technical English will include but are not limited to, innovations, design, systems, procedures, processes, planning, developments, incidents, agreements, testing, accidents and evaluations. Focus will also be placed on technical writing including the format of different types of reports, collaborating in teams for simulation meetings, and preparing and giving presentations.

A completed B1 level (approx. 180 class hours).

Obligation to attend all sessions including mandatory attendance for the first session. If students fail to attend the first session and do not have an excused absence, they will automatically lose their place in the language course.

Additionally, students are only allowed to miss 2 complete sessions (2x90 minutes).

Active participation is required for successful completion of the class.

Acquisition of ECTS credits:

Meeting the requirements mentioned above.

Active participation.

Preparation and reworking of each session.

Passing the final exam.

Final Grading Scheme:

60% exam

20% Presentation

10% Written Assignment #1

10% Written Assignment #2

This also applies to the acquisition of the certificate for the course. There are no certificates of attendance.
