The seminar is based on the book by Avner Friedman and Walter Littmann; Industrial Mathematics; A Course in Solving Real-World Problems. Each chapter of the book presents one important problem that arises in today’s industry, and then gets down to studying the problem by mathematical analysis and computation.
The course is suitable for everyone, who had calculus of one and several variables. Many important methods from the theory of ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations will be studied.
The first meeting will be in April. I will give an introductory lecture, and you will choose a topic for your seminar. You will have several weeks in order to work on your presentation, and you are always welcome to make an appointment for a discussion of your questions.
