Studium liberale (E3)
Inhalt
Kommentar

This ‘literature seminar’ uses scientific journal articles to introduce the students to theoretical and empirical approaches in transport and mobility research. The thematic focus is on inequalities in transport – i.e. how the costs and benefits of mobility and accessibility are unequally distributed among the population. The primary learning goal is the application, consolidation, and broadening of competences acquired in other teaching modules.

Some example topics are: transport-related social exclusion and ‘transport poverty’; gender inequalities in travel behaviour; accessibility to essential services and opportunities; vulnerability to fuel price increases; inequalities in short- and long-distance commuting; spatial and temporal mobility; patterns of exposure to urban air pollution; the travel patterns of socially disadvantaged groups (e.g. disabled, older and younger people, migrant and ethnic minorities); unequal access to new mobility and sharing services; policies to address transport inequalities. The students are welcome to propose their topics.
