Sociolinguistic Fieldwork - Einzelansicht

The aim of this seminar is to acquaint students with the variety of data-collection methods applied in the field of sociolinguistics, e.g. sociolinguistic interviews, questionnaires, surveys. These methods will be introduced in the first part of the seminar. The second part of the seminar is very hands-on and students will have ample opportunity to make use of some of the methods introduced by conducting their own small-scale projects. Thus this seminar will further develop students’ skills to find suitable research topics and to collect as well as analyse sociolinguistic data. 

 N.B. This is a regular seminar in our linguistics programme but it is also related to an upcoming course in the winter term that will take place as a sociolinguistic fieldtrip to the UK in February or March 2023. Although it is not a prerequisite for the excursion, students interested in the excursion are advised to attend this seminar.
