Kommentar: | War and conflict are dominant themes in postcolonial literatures, especially a re-writing and re-evaluation of histories is perceptible. These literatures often focus on forgotten or hidden events or make unheard voices audible. Key topics are the role of memory, dealing with issues of the past and the interaction between remembering and forgetting. In this course we will discuss Fred Khumalo’s Dancing the Death Drill (2017), which takes us back to the South African War and World War I, and Shehan Karunatilaka’s The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida (2022), which is set in the Sri Lankan Civil War. |
