Kommentar: | It is common to think that, in the aftermath of moral wrongdoing, wrongdoers owe it to their victims to make amends. But what is it to make amends for moral wrongdoing, and why is this something that wrongdoers owe their victims? Indeed, insofar as wrongdoers are not able to undo their past morally wrongful actions, how is it even possible for wrongdoers to make amends in the first place? This course will explore different theories of the nature and significance of making amends. Topics to be covered may include: apology, compensation, and reconciliation, making amends in personal relationships, making amends for crime, and making amends for wrongs by group agents. |
