Professionalization can be viewed from two different perspectives: collective and individual. While the collective approaches, which mostly originate from sociological studies, aim at developing a profession „adult eduction“, individual professionalization focuses on the actors within the discipline and their competences. During the 8th International Course of Lectures both sides will be included and discussed. Beside professionalization and profession, also the term professionalism needs to be defined in this context. The international experts will contribute their lectures to a broad range of topics to represent the multiple perspectives one can take on „professionalization“. This will include studies on the professional fields in adult education and related competences, gaps and bridges between academic professionalization and labour markets, national examples of professionalizing adult educators as well as international approaches/projects. The lectures will therefore cover supranational, national, organizational and individual aspects of professionalization in adult education. All lectures will be delivered on campus (Essen) in December 2014. International students will gain the opportunity to follow the lectures live online and even join the discussions after each lecture. |
