The course starts on 23.10.2019 and takes place in a bi-weekly rhythm.
Course description:
In this class we will examine recent events in China from a sociological perspective.
Participants will be invited to choose a social phenomenon that has made to the top stories in the Chinese news and stirred a heated response from the public. First task would be to place that phenomenon within the body of sociological knowledge, by giving definitions, related theories, etc. and present results in a standard 12-15 minute presentation with slides. Second, after receiving a feedback the presentation needs to be converted into a 8-10 minute TED style talk. Finally, participants will present their ideas in a 3-minute pitch format.
This course aims to stimulate students’ structural thinking and confidence in public speaking. |
