What is a graphic novel without words and sentences? What is wordlessness? How do the formal features of wordlessness help to construct meaning? What type of narrative are we then presented with? In this course, we will address all these questions as we consider the works of Eric Drooker to be exemplarily of wordless narration.
Please note: This course is a reading intensive class and not about superhero comics, mangas or about TV-related genres such as anime or on how to make comics, and several assignments include creative writing, creative drawing and creating excerpts.
Attendance and active participation in discussion is a part of the required work without which you cannot successfully complete the course.
