Information for all IN-EAST MA-students:
Please note that this course does not count towards your degree but is an additional offer for those of you who are interested in using RQDA and get training in how to develop and realize a research project.

| Bemerkung: |
The course is aimed at MA-level and PhD students.
We will set-up your laptop with free software (R under RStudio with RQDA) and design a research project using materials of your own choice. Materials will include web-based sources or transcriptions of written and audio (including field notes, interview notes and taped interviews). The course will cover the use of research materials in English, German and Chinese. We will also install a relevant software for transcription of audio-data. We will make a plan for carrying out the project, we will formulate the optimal way of standardizing and handling data for various stages of the research project. We will carry out basic analysis using the software and reach first-cut conclusions from the analysis.
Readings include: Yanto Chandra and Liang Shang: Qualitative Research Usinf R: A Systematic Approach. Singapore: Springer 2019 and Steinar Kvale, InterView. An Introduction to Qualitative Research Interviewing. London: Sage, 1996. Note: All software will be Open-source and free of charge. |

In the e-mail state your full name, your student ID and your study program (e.g. MA CEAS, MA Soziologie, PhD Area Ruhr...) Also indicate which OS is installed on the laptop you will use in class.
If registrations exceed 15, participants will be chosen by lottery (balancing students from the different departments) and notified by e-mail. |
