   Bemerkung:

Content:

In this course we will introduce intersection cohomology and some applications, e.g. in geometric representation theory. This is a magical tool that was originally invented to get a cohomology theory for singular varieties that has all the nice special properties that one usually only expects for smooth projective varieties. It then turned out that this has many additional, surprising features that found applications in representation theory, geometry of algebraic varieties - and allowed to prove difficult conjectures in combinatorics as well.

As prerequisites it would be very helpful if you would have seen some cohomology theory already.

There is a moodle page for the course for which TopicsAG will allow you to register for now.

Format:

Depending on the pandemic situation we might adjust the course format. To be safe we will plan a digital format for now - whenever it should be come possible to meet in small groups we will try to make use of the option, keeping in mind that joining in remotely will always be an option. As of now there is a room available that we can use for a small group.

We will try to use the time slots for online-classes (usually via BigBlueButton) - as long as we cannot meet, the time could easily be changed. I would like to try to give room for interaction in the online classroom and provide taylored material via moodle.
