Afghanistan is a country of war and devastation – or so we think. In Western film and literature, it has played the role of dangerous playground for adventorous travellers, but also as horror backdrop for warriors-in-training. In this seminar, we will have a look at travel literature to Afghanistan, but also at blockbuster movies where the hero goes to Afghanistan and returns to tell the tale. Literature will be made available. |
