Kursbeschreibung:
The seminar “Empirische Aspekte der Mensch-Computer-Interaktion” will be offered with the topic “Innovations in human-computer interaction (HCI)”. Based on theories of computer-mediated communication, we will focus on recent digitalization innovations within the broader realm of HCI. It will be discussed to what extent the classic theories can be applied to explain the mechanisms of recent innovative applications and phenomena. Examples for these applications and phenomena are: social robots, augmented/virtual reality, smart speakers, deep fakes, chatbots, and brain computer interfaces (neuro-prosthetics).
Within the course you will give a lecture on, and write a study proposal about an innovation in HCI and its theoretical mechanisms.
The course will be taught in English.
