IN-EAST Mini lecture series/Research Forum

 "Labor, mobility and migration of (East) Asia"

This Research Forum/IN-EAST Mini Lecture Series in the Winter Semester 23/24 invites experts to discuss topics on labor, mobility and migration issues of (East) Asia.

 

The sessions will take place during lecture period on the following three dates:

1) Wednesday 6th December from 10:00 to 12 (HYBRID)
"Students, Workers or Cash Cows? The Double- Commodification of Southeast Asian Students in Taiwan" by Jun.-Prof. Yu-chin Tseng (Department of Chinese Studies, University of Tübingen)
 
2) Wednesday 17th January from 10:00 to 12 (ONLINE)
"Mapping the Transnational Migration of Highly Skilled Japanese Women in Dual Career Couple Context: a Conflict or a Confluence of Career and Family Trajectories?" by  Dr. Lenka Vyleťalová (Assistant Professor,  Palacký University Olomouc)
 
3) Wednesday 31st January from 16:00 to 18 (HYBRID) (* irregular schedule due to the combined event with our collaborative project "QuaMaFA" (Qualification and Skill in the Migration Process of Foreign Workers in Asia)
"The Impact of Immigrants' Transnational Ties with their Home Countries in South Korea" by Prof. Sou Hyun Jang (Korea University)

This lecture series is also open to interested colleagues, researchers, students and the public.

 

 
   Leistungsnachweis:

 

IN-EAST MA students: It is possible to gain 6 CP for the Research Forum (over the length of 2 consecutive semesters in total) as Elective module (E 15).

To register, send an e-mail to Melanie Kogler before the first session of the lecture series, attend the first lecture and notify the organizer (aimi.muranaka AT uni-due.de) that you want to gain CP for the course.

 

Important: As student who aims to gain CP for this course, you are required to attend the sessions on Decemeber 6th and January 31st on-site at LE 736 in person (online particiation for these two sessions  is not permitted if you want to gain CP!)

 
The requirements for receiving credits include include regular attendance and the submission of a reaction paper. Details to be announced at the first session of the Research Forum/IN-EAST Lecture Series.

If you want to attend any of the offered lectures without gaining CP, there are no requirements - simply join.
